SERMON OUTLINE # 5 - "A New Heaven and A New Earth"

"A New Heaven and A New Earth"

Text: Is. 65:17-25

As dear children of God, we are all expecting the glorious appearing of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His kingdom is at hand. He will come sooner but nobody knows when. The only hope that we have is His promise to take us all into His kingdom. He promised that He will create a new heaven and a new earth where we will dwell with Him forever. But why will God destroys this present world?

I. The condition of this present world
       1. Sin dwells therein
1.1 Sin and Death inhabit the world - Rom. 5:12
1.2 All are doing wicked things before God - Rom. 3:10; Jas. 4:17; Neh. 9:33

       2. People have perverted their ways  - Jer. 3:21
2.1 They love the darkness rather than the light - Jn. 3:19
2.2 They are living in an ungodly manner - 2 Tim. 3:1-7
          2.3 They will not listen to God's Word - Mat. 13:15; 1 Cor. 2:9; 2 Tim. 4:3-4

II. God's judgment of this present world
       1. Love not the world - 1 Jn. 2:15, 16
       2. God will judge the wicked - Ez. 18:4
       3. God will destroy this present world - 2 Pet. 3:10-13; Rev. 21:1

III. The new heaven and earth
       1. Its environment
          1.1 No more seas - Rev. 21:1
1.2 The people will rejoice - Is. 65:18
          1.3 No more weeping - Is. 65:19; Rev. 21:4
1.4 The Lord will dwell in it - Rev. 21:3
1.5 No more marriage, no one will grow old and no more death - Is. 65:20; Mat. 22:29, 30
1.6 There is joy and gain in every work - Is. 65:21, 22, 23
1.7 God will give His grace all the day - Is. 65:24
1.8 No more wild beasts - Is. 65:25

       2. Its dwellers
          2.1 The new creations - Rev. 21:5, 6; 2 Cor. 5:17
2.2 The faithful and he who overcomes the world - Rev. 21:7

Living in this present world and suffering all its persecutions will not truly give a sad ending. We will dwell in this new heaven and new earth once we overcome the world. God once said in Jn. 16:33, "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." Therefore, as God's heir of promise, we should not be worry of what will happen to us because we will live happily ever after.

SERMON OUTLINE # 4 - "A Well-pleasing Service to God"

"A Well-pleasing Service to God"

Text: Heb. 13:1-18

What is a service? Service is a work done by an individual for the benefit of others. People give their time to make different services for the society. Lots of groups sprung up in order to provide different kinds of services. These are just few of the many examples where service is done.

What about spiritual service? Did God demands His children or people to serve Him? Are all services accepted by Him? The fact is that, no religious group believes that their service is not accepted by God. All religious sects believe that whatever thy do, it is accepted by Him no matter what kind of service it is as long as they do it heartily. The truth is, not all services offered to God is accepted by Him. Some of these services are abomination before Him. So, what kind of service are we ought to do that could be accepted by Him? Let's examine the following questions.

I. Do you love your neighbor? - v. 1-3; Mat. 5:21, 22

II. Is there lust lying within you? - v. 4; Mat. 5:27, 28, 31, 32

III. Are you contented with what God has given you? - v. 5; Phil. 4:11

IV. Do you have a genuine faith to God? - v. 6

V. Do you respect the church leaders? - v. 7, 17

VI. Have you truly understand the gospel? - v. 8-13

VII. Are you holding fast on the promises of God? - v. 14, 15; Tit. 2:13

VIII. How do you perform and communicate in this world? - v. 16; Col. 4:6

IX. Do you care your spiritual family - v. 18, 19

Consider yourself based on the above-mentioned questions. Do you think that the service you made for God is worthy and acceptable before Him? If you think that you're doing right and missed a single point above, now think again. You might have been deceived!

SERMON OUTLINE # 3 - "Spiritual Obedience"

"Spiritual Obedience"

Text: Eph. 6:1-9

"Children obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right." This verse in Ephesians 6 is used to remind children to obey their parents and do what they command. Obedience is one way of showing honor to one's parents in the flesh. But what about in our spiritual aspect? Are we obedient to God? Do we honor Him?

Spiritual obedience means...

I. Doing God's commandment (v. 1)
       1. Read His word - Jos. 1:8; Ps. 1:2; 119:5; 1 Tim. 4:14-16
       2. Pray always - Ps. 55:16, 17; Lk. 18:1; Eph. 6:18; 1 Thes. 5:17; Jas. 5:16
       3. Preach the gospel - Mat. 4:23; Mk. 16:15; 2 Tim. 4:2
       4. Continue in the service - Act. 2:43-47; 1 Cor. 1:9; 2 Tim. 3:14

II. Honoring God as Lord and Savior (v. 2,3)
       1. Worship God alone - Ex. 34:14; 1 Chr. 16:29; Ps. 95:6, 7; 99:5; Rev. 14:6, 7
       2. Give God the glory due to Him - 2 Sam. 22:4; Ps. 66:1, 2; 89:5; 119:164; Eph. 1:6-12

III. Serving God faithfully (v. 5-7)
       1. Fear God - v. 5; Ps. 2:11
       2. Serve no man - v. 6, 7; Col. 3:22, 23

To be spiritually obedient, a Christian is ought to do God's commandment, honor Him as Lord and Savior, and serve Him faithfully. God will give a reward to His obedient children (v. 8, Col. 3:24) so as with the disobedient ones (v. 9; Col. 3:25). As a dear child of God, are you obedient to Him or not? Do you honor Him and do His will accordingly? Ask yourself!

SERMON OUTLINE # 2 - "Living By Faith"

"Living By Faith"

Text: 2 Cor. 4:7-18

In today's modern world, it is truly difficult to teach people how to live by faith. The young ones are now so dependent of what they have seen and experienced. Technologies and new discoveries affect the beliefs of the many and as a result a lot of people no longer believe on the existence of God. "Why should I believe in God? Is he real? If so, where is he? Have you seen him? Have you heard him, touched him, smelled him or tasted him?" These were just a few of the many questions of this unbelieving and sinful world. Questions of those who never understand the grace, loving-kindness, mercy, judgment and power of God.

What is faith?
As defined in Hebrews 11:1, ("Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.") we can clearly see that a genuine faith to God is not something that can be drawn just by what a person have perceived in his senses. True faith comes from hearing the word of God (Rom. 10:17). If one rejects the gospel of Christ, he can never attain true faith and thus he can never live in it. To live by faith is to acquire true faith first above anything else by hearing the very word of God.

Living by faith is something that becomes a common statement to Christians but I believe only a few did comprehend its meaning and true essence. It becomes a common statement in a sense that believers often utter it yet when problems or crisis arise it seems almost every one forget about it. So, how can one eventually live by faith then? Let's consider the following points.

I. Do not claim God's glory as yours - v. 7; Is. 42:8a

II. Think on God's mercy and believe on His divine providence - v. 8-12

III. Trust on God's promises and give to Him all the glory - v. 13-15

IV. Depend on God's grace alone - v. 16, 17

V. Look only to Jesus and set your eyes on things eternal - v. 18

To live by faith is not something that can be done by our mere efforts. Everything is by the grace of God and one can live by it if he has acquired true faith. Again, true faith can only be acquired by hearing the word of God. Is faith important? Certainly, "YES!" for without it we can never please God (Heb. 11:6). Is living by faith essential to every believer? YES!, for living by faith means putting one's full confidence, trust, capabilities, abilities, beliefs, needs, cares and everything to God alone. Therefore, it's a great thing that Christians are found living by faith in God without any reservations or doubts.

SERMON OUTLINE # 1 - "Who Are Ye?"

"Who Are Ye?"

Text: Act. 19:15-20

Nowadays, lots of people are claiming that they are Christians - preaching the same gospel as we do but deceiving many. John warns us to try every spirit (1 Jn. 4) and not to believe on them immediately though they preach Christ. We have to know them well whether they are of the truth or not.

In the passage, the sons of Sceva tried to cast out an evil spirit using the name of Jesus whom the apostle Paul preached yet the spirit rebuked them saying, "And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye? (v. 15)" As a result, they were the ones who were kicked out naked and wounded by the spirit. Thus, it is truly essential to make sure that one must have the true spirit of Christ and not just assuming things which are not.

The following points may help us in understanding the things need to be manifested to anyone who has the spirit of the true God.

I. Let God's glory be made known in you
   a. Shine as lights of this dark and sinful world - Mat. 5:14-16
   b. Listen and be obedient to the voice of the Lord - Jn. 10:27

II. Be of one mind with the other believers - Act. 4:20,32; 1 Cor. 10:10; 6:17

III. Stand firm before God - Act. 5:29; 6:2b; 2 Tim. 1:7-10; Rom. 1:16,17

IV. Continue preaching the gospel without hesitation - Act. 5:41,42; 26:18,28,29; 1 Cor. 2:4-5; 9:16-18

V. Willing to die for God's sake - Act. 21:13,14; 1 Cor. 15:31

VI. Resist sins & turn away from them - 1 Cor. 15:33,34; Jas. 4:7

VII. Show holiness, righteousness, & godliness that lead to perfection - 2 Cor. 7:1,10; Lk. 1:74,75; Eph. 1:4; 1 Pet. 1:15,16; 2 Pet. 3:11; 1 Tim. 6:11; 1 Pet. 2:24

When the above-mentioned points are observed and manifested, God's name will be magnified and be glorified. Also, a lot of people will know and believe the only true God especially on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. In such case, the word of God will eventually prevail (Act. 19:17-20). Therefore, it is important that one must check himself that he is in the faith and that the spirit of God resides in him before claiming that he is a Christian (2 Cor. 13:5).
